The future of state and federal politics has become clearer in the week following Election Day, and we are increasingly hopeful that the pro-family, pro-freedom movement will thrive over the next several years. The presidency is secured, Republicans regained the majority in the Senate, and Republicans have also retained their majority in the House of Representatives. That trifecta is monumental. We’re thrilled that conservative values will once again be front and center in Washington.
If this election showed us anything, it’s that Americans crave a return to common sense and normalcy. The Left went too far in their zeal for abortion, their hatred of traditional values, and their radical views on gender ideology. It backfired. Voters stepped up this election and proved that radical “woke” views do not represent their vision for this nation.
Three states rejected amendments that would have expanded abortion rights in their state. Eight states, including Wisconsin, passed measures specifying that American citizenship is required to vote in federal, state, and local elections. Three states rejected amendments to legalize recreational marijuana. Praise God for these victories!
Elections for our State Legislature had mixed results with the new gerrymandered redistricting maps. Republicans in the State Assembly outperformed expectations and retained a majority. The new session will consist of 54 Republicans and 45 Democrats. Republicans in the State Senate underperformed, losing every race in toss-up or lean Democrat districts. Republicans will retain a three-seat majority in the Senate with 18 Republicans and 15 Democrats. However, with the other half of the Senate seats up for re-election in 2026, it will be very difficult for Republicans to maintain a Senate majority after this legislative session.
In truth, as Christians, we all have the same path forward, regardless of if we are pleased or disappointed by the election results. That path is to continue living in the light of Christ, recognizing that Christ is King, and our hope is never placed in any government or elected official.
P.S. Will you prayerfully consider contributing to Wisconsin Family Action as part of your year-end giving as we prepare to launch full-steam ahead into the 2025 legislative session? Your support will enable us to pursue a Wisconsin where families thrive, life is protected, and religious liberty is upheld.
P.P.S. Please pray for the family of Hannah Glass. Hannah passed away earlier this week due to a severe allergic reaction. She was an alumnus of our LEAD Wisconsin camp. Hannah was 19 years old and a student at Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wisconsin. If you feel led, you can help support her family as they pay for her medical and funeral costs HERE.
