Over the past several weeks, we have emphasized that fatherhood is under attack in our culture. What do we mean by that? Take a look at the quotes from popular news sources below:

  • “The bad news for Dad is that despite common perception, there’s nothing objectively essential about his contribution [in the family].” – The Atlantic
  • “While it’s great to celebrate fathers, it’s important to bear in mind that the evidence suggests there’s no magic ingredient they supply but others can’t.” – JSTOR Daily
  • “Fathers are not needed.” – Huff Post

This is just a glimpse of the message our culture is sending fathers – that they are not needed, wanted, or necessary to the upbringing of their children. That message couldn’t be further from the truth.

“We should disavow the notion that ‘mommies can make good daddies,’ just as we should disavow the popular notion that ‘daddies can make good mommies.’ The two sexes are different to the core, and each is necessary—culturally and biologically—for the optimal development of a human being,” Professor David Popenoe notes in his book Life Without Fathers. (emphasis added)

Here at Wisconsin Family Action, we are unafraid to combat these cultural lies and speak the truth: fathers are needed, fathers are essential, and fathers are part of God’s design for the family. Will you join us in proclaiming this message?

One tangible way you can support fatherhood is by contributing to WFA’s flash match initiative – any donation made in the month of June will be DOUBLED by our generous friends, up to $20,000. This money will go toward supporting fathers, mothers, and children in the state of Wisconsin. Additionally, along with your donation, you will have the opportunity to leave a special memory of your father in the comment box, which we will share on social media.

Thank you for your continued support!
