Just last month, we saw where a legislative election came down to 45 votes. If even a fraction of the people in that district who thought, “Oh well my vote doesn’t matter” had gone out and voted, that election could have been flipped, and the 100% pro-life candidate would have won!
Now, magnify that to the state. Only 20,000 votes separated who won Wisconsin in both the 2020 and 2016 presidential election. According to Barna research, 37% of registered voters in evangelical churches don’t vote. If Christians in Wisconsin who didn’t vote found a way to the polls in 2020, that would have been the deciding factor. There are over 3000 evangelical churches in Wisconsin. If just 7 extra people vote in each of these churches, they likely will determine the presidential election this year.
Beyond the presidential election, there are a great number of legislative districts likely to be decided by a few hundred votes or even less. The urgency has never been greater in these races. In many situations, those few votes will be the difference between a candidate who protects life and recognizes the danger of gender ideology and a candidate who will promote taxpayer-funded abortion up to birth and transgender surgeries for kids.
You can take a look to our neighbors in Minnesota (under Tim Walz) to see how radically and quickly things can change if the legislature is flipped to Democrat control.
Voting is an act that we as Christians can be involved in to encourage good and be a light in our society. This week, I urge you, please don’t take that privilege lightly because now more than ever your vote matters.
