We are exactly one week away from Wisconsin’s fall partisan primary election. Mail-in absentee ballots can still be requested this week, and early in-person voting ends in most communities this Friday. Ballots statewide will have two binding referenda questions that, if passed, will amend our state constitution related to the power of the purse and whether the governor has sole discretion in how federal funds he or she accepts on behalf of the state are spent.
Previously, Governor Evers gave 2.4 million dollars to Wisconsin’s largest abortion provider Planned Parenthood without legislative approval. If these constitutional amendments pass any future Governor would be required to have legislative oversight before spending federal tax dollars for progressive special interests. We encourage you to vote “YES” on questions 1 and 2.
We are in the midst of what may be one of the most important election seasons of our lifetime. This partisan primary along with the upcoming November 5th election will play a consequential part in determining the future of America. As we continue to fight to protect the unborn, bolster parental rights, stand up for religious freedom, and combat woke ideology in our school systems, we need elected officials willing to stand up and defend those same principles at the local, state, and federal levels. We have entered uncharted territory this election season, with the GOP backing down from many of our strongly held beliefs, and the Democrat party reaffirming their commitment to secular values. Now is the time for action – and that action is voting.
Historically, we know that voter turnout for primary elections in Wisconsin is incredibly low. Many voters write these elections off as unimportant and inconsequential, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. One study found that nearly 80% of all registered voters fail to participate in partisan primaries. In Wisconsin’s presidential primary in April of this year, only 25% of voting-age residents cast a ballot.
As we work to engage more Christian conservatives in the voting process, please know that these numbers mean your vote in next week’s election has even more power to change the tide of our state. In some districts, there may be as few as just 200-300 voters showing up to cast a ballot, and your single vote can have an incredible impact on protecting faith, family, and freedom.
We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to engage in our state’s political process. You can view your sample ballot here, read an overview of the two referenda questions here, dig deeper into candidate’s backgrounds here, and access our 2023-2024 Legislative Scorecard here.
Your voice is critical in defending our shared values of God’s plan for marriage, family, life, and religious liberty. Please forward this email to your friends and family to encourage them to get out to the polls next week on August 13th and vote “YES” to questions 1 and 2!
