“Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.
Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”
–
Proverbs 31:8-9

What caused you to become an advocate for the sanctity of human life? For some, it was in their conversion to faith in Christ. For others, it was through hearing a pro-life speaker. For others, like our President Emeritus, Julaine Appling, it could be through a personal adoption story.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been pro-life. However, I became an advocate for the sanctity of human life during my freshman year in college. One of my friends had conceived twins after being date-raped. She unfortunately miscarried one of the babies. Planned Parenthood encouraged her to abort the second child due to “medical concerns.” Before her abortion appointment, she reached out to me for advice. I encouraged her to get a second opinion and to choose life. Before the “surgery” began, she decided to choose life and walked out of the abortion clinic. After getting a second opinion, she gave birth to a healthy baby. Praise God!

The battle for the sanctity of human life has ramped up since the Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade. Last week, the Wisconsin Supreme Court announced that they will hear a lawsuit which asks the court to find a right to abortion in our state constitution. Wisconsin Family Action, along with Wisconsin Right to Life and Pro-Life Wisconsin, filed a motion to intervene in this case on behalf of pro-life Wisconsinites. We were disturbed that the Court has rejected our attempt to intervene; however, they are allowing Wisconsin’s largest abortion provider Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin to present their case. You can read our joint response the Court’s decision HERE

Planned Parenthood argues that the Wisconsin Constitution grants a right to abortion in Article 1, Section 1, which claims, “All people are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights; among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Ironically the call for a “right” to abortion highlights the right to life which is clearly in our constitution as an inherent right.

Quite plainly, the Wisconsin Constitution does not grant a right to abortion. We will continue to do everything in our power to speak on behalf of the voiceless in defense of the sanctity of human life. Wisconsin Family Action is committed to standing with you for the cause of life, and we will not take a seat until all lives are cherished in Wisconsin. Your ongoing prayer and financial partnership are vital as we champion the lives of the voiceless together. Thank you for being an advocate for life with us!

P.S. You may have heard the disheartening news that the Republican National Committee is dropping the plank in its platform that previously called for national limits on abortion to now calling for abortion to be handled at the state level. As a pro-life ministry we are concerned that given these recent actions of our Wisconsin Supreme Court the RNC platform could leave the unborn in Wisconsin defenseless.
