Writing for desiringgod.org, Jonathan Pokluda urges young people to realize they are becoming what they will be. He offers seven lies too many believe, along with countering healthy resolutions. The lies are do whatever you want, live outside your means, feed an addiction, run with fools, believe it’s all about you, live for immediate gratification, and avoid accountability. The countering godly resolutions are do what God wants you to do, live below your means, starve your addictions, walk with the wise, serve others, hold out for God’s best, and don’t go it alone.

WFA president Julaine Appling says, “Helping young people understand this basic truth is one of the most important lessons parents can teach their children. They are becoming who they will be. The decisions they make while young will often have long-lasting and sometimes lifelong consequences. Acknowledging the lies and reinforcing the godly resolutions should be a top priority for every parent.”
