The same-sex domestic partnership registry that became law in the 2010-2011 state budget signed by Governor Doyle, creates a legal status for same-sex domestic partnerships that is substantially similar to that of marriage, in direct violation of the Wisconsin constitutional Marriage Protection Amendment, approved by voters in 2006 by nearly 60%.
